Annotation |
Harry Vincent, not long in the Hollywood of the 1920s, gets his big break when studio owner Damon Ira Chance asks him to find an old-time Western actor, Shorty McAdoo. Chance wants to make the definitive film about the West, and thinks McAdoo has the stories to tell. When Harry finds McAdoo, the down-on-his-luck actor does have a story. The haunting story of a drifter and his journeys through an unforgiving land and a brutal encounter in the Cypress Hills of Saskatchewan with the Assiniboine Indians. Some strong language. Co-winner of the 1997 CNIB Talking Book of the Year Award. Winner of the 1996 Governor General's Award for Fiction. c1996. Marrakesh title.
