"This is the vocational biography of an artist, Gloria Contreras, who has traced her career through movement and music. Her work as a dancer and choreographer received its first major recognition in Canada and the United States, and the dances she created at the behest of some of the world's leading ballet companies - such as the City Center Ballet, the New York City Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet - guaranteed her a place in the history of dance from the dawn of her career. In 1970 she founded the UNAM Choreography Workshop, of which she has since been director and principal choreographer.
