Annotation Bernhardt began playing trombone in the 1920s and played and sang during the 1930s and 1940s with King Oliver, Edgar Hayes, and dozens of other groups. His is the story of many black musicians who spent hundreds of hours in buses to play dances, but were barred from mixing with the audience. Reflects the trombonist's congeniality, humor, and coloquial speech in a personality and an era. Some strong language.
